It was one fine summer day; the sun was beaming and the sky was clear blue when we decided to leisurely drive along Highway 1 (California State Route 1) to Laguna Beach. Highway 1, one of America’s most scenic drives, offers a spectacular view of Golden State’s Pacific coastline. We drove to charming Seal Beach and then continued on to admire sun-drenched Huntington Beach, then headed further south to Newport Beach passing multi-million dollar mansions, then culminated the short road trip in Laguna Beach.
Laguna Beach is a picturesque seaside village located in Orange County, midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is cuddled between Laguna Hills and the Pacific Ocean and a perfect place to slow down, unwind and breathe the salt breeze of the ocean while watching the surfers and bikini-clad sun bathers lining the beach.
If you’re a lover of the arts, Laguna Beach is the home to world-class art galleries. Artists have long flocked to this small seaside village to find inspiration from its natural beauty. Every summer they participate in the Festival of Arts to showcase their work.
You can also browse the small boutiques and craft shops; and if you get hungry, multitude of dining choices are available. I highly recommend "The Cliff Restaurant" for its magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean.
It was a fun way to spend the lazy days of summer enjoying sunny Southern California, but it was getting late, so we drove northbound along Highway 1 and watched the splendor of a beautiful sunset.
